Acting Sustainably, Growing Successfully

MSK combines green logistics, energy-efficient technologies, and a strong sense of responsibility for the environment and society. We implement sustainability consistently and pragmatically – across the entire pharmaceutical supply chain. This makes us a role model for sustainable logistics solutions in the pharma industry and a strong partner for customers who think ecologically and act economically.

A Site Focused on Sustainability

Our logistics center at the Berliner Ring in Bensheim combines efficient logistics with ecological responsibility and serves as a showcase project for sustainable site development. From the very beginning, the location was planned with ecological considerations in mind, aligning economic growth and green logistics with environmental compatibility.

A special focus is placed on promoting biodiversity: through nature-oriented initiatives such as the creation of habitats and the installation of numerous nesting boxes, native species including bats, kestrels, house sparrows, and even a pair of storks have settled on site. These measures were developed in close cooperation with the local NABU, ensuring seamless integration into daily operations.

Our Bensheim site thus represents a business model that embraces ecological responsibility as a core element of corporate action and actively contributes to preserving biodiversity in the region.

Resource-Efficient Construction and Sustainable Energy

Together with project developer Panattoni, we implemented a consistently resource-efficient and energy-saving construction concept for our new site in Bensheim – with a focus on land use in harmony with nature and the integration of renewable systems.

By relying entirely on electricity-based heating technology with 24 air-source heat pumps, intelligent rainwater management, and the deliberate avoidance of fossil fuels, we have created the foundation for an almost climate-neutral operation. In this way, we make a measurable contribution to green logistics with a permanently sustainable energy profile.

Energy from Sunlight: Bensheim’s Largest Photovoltaic System

More than 2,200 photovoltaic modules have been installed across 9,400 square meters of rooftop space, delivering a total capacity of 968 kWp – making it the flagship project in the GGEW AG portfolio. Around 50% of the locally generated electricity is used directly on site, while the remainder is fed into the public grid. In doing so, we avoid over 520 tons of CO₂ emissions annually and contribute to climate‑neutral logistics.

Sustainable Growth and Regional Responsibility

With the new facility at the Berliner Ring, we are doubling our storage capacity and strengthening the security of supply for temperature- and storage-sensitive pharmaceuticals. At the same time, we are sending a clear signal of regional economic responsibility.

Through our two existing sites in Bensheim, we have already created 100 new jobs. By 2027, our third site in Bensheim will add around 100 more. Complemented by our initiatives for training and talent development, we underline our commitment to a sustainable and climateneutral future.
